This week in Canadian Jewish Advocacy | December 18, 2022
Join CIJA and Jewish Federations across Canada at Democracy in Action in Ottawa on October 16-17, 2023.
Democracy in Action will assemble hundreds of representatives from Jewish communities and organizations across Canada to explore challenges facing Canadian Jewry and ways, as a diverse yet united national community, we can address them.
Democracy in Action will feature:
- Parliamentary Gala with key elected officials and decision-makers
- Meetings on Parliament Hill with MPs and Senators
- High-level speakers and intensive advocacy training
- A workshop on how to fight Jew-hatred on social media
- Networking with Jewish activists from coast to coast to coast
- Custom programs for student activists (beginning October 15)
‘Middle Eastern Christians who decide to stay in the lands of their birth should be able to live peacefully and profess their faith openly and safely knowing that the world will stand up when they are in danger.’
CIJA’s Richard Marceau and Cardus’ Rev. Dr. Andrew Bennett explore the ongoing discrimination facing Christians living in the Middle East and the need for Canadians and all Western countries to stand up for them.
Tonight is the first night of Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. Check out the calendar below for a list of community events happening across Canada.
CIJA staff gathered in Montreal last week for 48 hours of team-building, brainstorming, and strategizing about our advocacy work on behalf of Canada's Jewish community. Workshops and sessions focused on the Canada-Israel relationship, antisemitism, and the importance of acting in the best interest of the collective and of Israel.
