Antisemitism is on the rise, once again.

The Jewish community is the most targeted religious group for hate crimes. On average, more than one hate incident targeted Canada’s Jewish community every day in 2022.

We need to stand up against hate and take action – in our schools, our communities, and across Alberta. The lessons of “Never Again” are at risk of being forgotten. Education is vital to stemming hate. Educating youth on the Holocaust is essential to ensuring this history will never be forgotten.

On November 10th, Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides announced that Alberta will be mandating Holocaust education in its K-12 curriculum.

The Government’s announcement was supported by the Official Opposition – demonstrating that fighting hate is indeed a non-partisan issue.

Alberta is only the third province, after Ontario and B.C., to introduce mandatory Holocaust education in its K-12 curriculum.

As we face distortion of Holocaust history and disinformation about antisemitism today, this decision shows the Alberta Government’s commitment to Never Again.

Please add your voice to the many thanking them for doing the right thing and encouraging them to continue standing up to antisemitism.
