Salary Information: $45 - $55K commensurate with experience
Position Overview: Reporting to the Vice President, Pacific Region, you will be responsible for providing administrative and services support to the local staff office.
The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) builds and nurtures relationships with leaders in government, media, academia, civil society, and other faith and ethnic communities to ensure greater understanding of the issues that impact the Jewish community. CIJA combats antisemitism and discrimination in all its forms and advocates for fundamental rights and freedoms, social justice, and support for the people of Israel.
As the advocacy agent of the Jewish Federations of Canada, CIJA is a national, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of Jewish life in Canada by advancing the public policy interests of Canada’s organized Jewish community.
CIJA connects the power of a strong, national network to regional efforts in every Canadian province and, as the Canadian affiliate of the World Jewish Congress, to international efforts worldwide.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Providing daily administrative support to the Vice President and the local staff office
- Manage and maintain appointment calendars for the Vice President
- Organize, assemble documentation, take minutes for internal and external meetings
- Prepare and disseminate communications and information products for the Pacific Region (PR) team
- Liaise with the accounting department on behalf of the PR team (invoices, cheque requisitions, etc.)
- Organize all aspects of conference calls, on and off-site meetings, and special events (room bookings, catering, quotes, managing email invites/RSVPs, volunteer coordination and producing materials for special events)
- Compile updated contact lists and provide memos once approved by a manager
- General office administration (reception, answering phones, ordering office supplies, shipping, petty cash, maintaining the storage/supply room and photocopier, maintaining records)
- Online research as required
- Other responsibilities as determined by the employer.
- Available for evening meetings and events
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of related experience
- Proficient in organizational software (NationBuilder and Eventbrite) and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and Power Point)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize simultaneous items of importance and time sensitivity
- Proficient English writing skills
- Maturity, excellent judgment, discretion
- Knowledge of the Jewish community is an expectation
- Knowledge of Hebrew and other languages will be an asset
