Position Overview

The VP, Engagement and Mobilization translates CIJA's national strategy into coordinated action. This role owns execution: building and running the systems, programs, and relationships that turn community and ally engagement into measurable policy and institutional outcomes.

Reporting to the SVP, Community Engagement, the VP leads a national team and works in close coordination with national and regional VPs, along with a dotted line relationship to regional mobilization staff.

This is a role for someone who is operationally excellent, politically sharp, and energized by building things that work at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Execution and Integration

  • Lead day-to-day execution of CIJA's national mobilization strategy, translating the SVP's vision into operational plans with clear owners, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Ensure regional mobilization directors have the direction, tools, and support they need to execute locally.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and develop the national mobilization team.
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold the team accountable to measurable outcomes.
  • Build a high-performance team culture grounded in collaboration, urgency, and impact.

National Initiatives

  • Own and advance CIJA's national coalitions, coordinating with other organizations and partners to align strategy and reduce duplication.
  • Strategic Contribution
  • Contribute mobilization expertise to CIJA's implementation planning and organizational strategy.
  • Advise the SVP on emerging opportunities, risks, and gaps in the mobilization portfolio.
  • Build and maintain expertise in grassroots organizing, digital mobilization, and coalition management, keeping CIJA's approach current and competitive.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in community organizing, grassroots mobilization, political campaigns, association management or public affairs at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong operational and project management skills. You build systems, not just relationships.
  • Experience working across organizational functions and coordinating with peers in communications and government relations.
  • Excellent judgment. You know when to move fast and when to escalate.
  • Strong communicator, both in writing and in person.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Jewish community and advocacy landscape.
  • Experience with digital mobilization platforms, CRM systems, and data-driven engagement.

Working Conditions
