Extremist "Al Quds Day" Rally Proceeds After Court Denies Injunction
Toronto, ON – March 14, 2026 – Today, the Ontario Superior Court denied the province’s request for an emergency injunction to stop the “Al Quds Day” rally.
In response, Michelle Stock, Vice President, Ontario, of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) issued the following statement:
“The court’s decision to deny the Province’s request for an emergency injunction against the “Al Quds Day” rally underscores a serious and long-standing public safety concern that has been allowed to grow over many years.
“Al Quds Day" was created by the Islamic regime to promote the destruction of Israel. For decades it has served as a platform for extremist rhetoric, antisemitic conspiracy theories, and expressions of support for terrorist organizations such as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, an entity listed as a terrorist organization in Canada.
“Events rooted in the ideology of a regime that funds and arms terrorist groups send a chilling message to all Canadians and undermines the sense of safety and belonging that every community deserves.
“For years, CIJA and other community partners have documented and provided evidence of illegal activity associated with "Al Quds Day" rallies, including the promotion of terrorist organizations and incitement. We will review all available footage and reports from today’s rally and will provide any evidence of potential criminal conduct to law enforcement for further investigation.
“In the current climate of escalating threats and violence, allowing unlawful conduct to proceed unchecked sends a dangerous signal. Laws against incitement, intimidation, and support for terrorist organizations exist for a reason and they must be enforced.
“The Province sought this injunction in the context of a deeply concerning security environment, including six recent incidents of gunfire targeting synagogues, Jewish and Iranian-owned businesses, and the United States Consulate in Toronto.
“We commend Premier Ford and the Attorney General for recognizing the seriousness of this threat and for taking action to protect public safety.
“The reality is that years of inconsistent enforcement have created a serious legal and public safety challenge. When unlawful conduct is allowed to occur repeatedly without meaningful intervention, it becomes normalized. That normalization makes it far more difficult for courts to intervene later, even when the risks to public safety are clear.
“Communities should not be left in a situation where the failure to enforce the law in the past becomes the reason authorities cannot act decisively today. We will not be silent when events that celebrate or legitimize those who seek our destruction are brought into our cities.”
