Lors de la campagne électorale de 2019, les libéraux se sont engagés à légiférer pour lutter contre la haine en ligne. Ils n’ont pas tenu cette promesse et l’ont réitérée pendant celle de 2021, allant jusqu’à promettre le dépôt du projet de loi dans les 100 premiers jours de leur troisième mandat. Cet échéancier est passé depuis longtemps et nous n’avons toujours pas vu l’ombre d’une législation en ce sens.

Toronto police's hate crime unit is investigating a fire at a Jewish-owned grocery store on Wednesday that was also spray-painted with the words "Free Palestine." Police Chief Myron Demkiw told reporters Thursday "no stone would be left unturned" as they look for suspects.

On December 12, Canadian foreign policy showed its hypocrisy, flip-flopping from a statement that clearly condemned Hamas and its role in perpetrating violence against both Israelis and Palestinians, to, just a few hours later, voting in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution that failed to even name Hamas, let alone hold Hamas accountable for any of its war crimes.
