Jewish Community Mourns Passing of Former Cabinet Minister & Liberal MP Jim Carr

To mark the passing of former cabinet minister and Liberal MP for Winnipeg South Centre Jim Carr, z”l, Shimon Koffler Fogel, President and CEO, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, released the following statement:
“The Jewish community joins with many Canadians in mourning the passing of The Honourable Jim Carr, P.C., M.P.
“A long-time member of the Liberal Party of Canada, Jim Carr faithfully served the riding of Winnipeg South Centre since 2015 and held important portfolios in Cabinet, including Natural Resources and International Trade. Although profoundly challenged with health issues, Jim Carr remained active and fully engaged in public policy until his untimely death.
“Jim had a rich career, including time as a classical musician, journalist, and businessman before focusing his energies first in provincial and then federal politics. Throughout his career, he reflected an abiding passion for Canada, deep pride in his home province of Manitoba, and unwavering commitment to his Jewish heritage. In touching the lives of so many, the common theme that marked Jim Carr’s many contributions was his dedication to making Canada a better place for all. May his memory be for a blessing.”
