CIJA Welcomes Ontario Ministry of Multiculturalism’s Additional Funding for Anti-hate Security
Toronto, ON – November 13, 2025 – Today, the Ontario government announced an additional $12.75 million to combat hate crimes and protect communities, through the Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant.
With this funding, the provincial government has invested over $98 million since 2021 to support over 3,000 faith-based and cultural organizations, including those of the Jewish community, to ensure their spaces remain safe and secure.
Applications are now open for community organizations to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to improve or implement new measures to protect their spaces.
These measures can include:
- hiring professional security
- enhancing locks
- installing cameras
- training staff
- making building upgrades
- completing security assessments
- introducing safer cybersecurity measures
In response to the announcement, Josh Landau, Director, Government Affairs, Ontario, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), said:
“Rising acts of antisemitism have regrettably meant increased security costs, but the Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant allows Jewish childcare centres, schools, and places of worship to keep our communities safe while focusing their funds on programming. We appreciate this increase in funding, which will continue to support Jewish Ontarians all across the province.”
