CIJA Urges Federal Government to Boost Community Security in Budget 2025
Ottawa, ON – October 28, 2025 – With the 2025 Federal Budget set to be tabled on November 4, Noah Shack, CEO, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), issued the following statement calling for urgent government action:
“In response to the growing wave of violence and extremism, Canada’s Jewish community has stepped up with preventative security measures and tools that save lives.
“When the government delivers the federal budget on November 4, we urge them to substantially increase security funding through the Canada Community Security Program (CCSP) and ensure programs are accessible to keep every community safe.
“A government’s top priority is to protect its citizens. With escalating threats, the needs of targeted communities, including Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, and others, are outpacing the support for essential security personnel and protective measures that can prevent tragedy.”
