CIJA Welcomes Elimination of Nuclear Sites, Warns of Iranian Threat to Canadians

Ottawa, ON – June 22, 2025
Attribute to Noah Shack, Interim President, Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs:
“For decades, there has been a clear Canadian consensus: the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons program poses a grave danger to global peace and security. CIJA welcomes yesterday’s precision strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, recognizing the elimination of these sites and the broader nuclear threat as vital steps toward lasting peace and security in the Middle East and beyond.
"But the Iranian threat is not just its nuclear program.
"Iran has long posed a threat as the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism, including the Hamas atrocities of October 7, while terrorizing its own people.
"Just last week, CSIS warned of a potential increase in Iranian threat-related activities directed at Canada and its allies.
"At this critical time, CIJA is working closely with Canadian authorities and our community security agencies, which are monitoring developments and will advise of pertinent information related to the local threat level.
"We continue to call on the federal government to stand strong against the Iranian threat."
