There were 212 antisemitic crimes committed in Montreal since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and reported to the SPVM, it was revealed during a press conference held by Federation CJA board chairman Steve Sebag and Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs Quebec vice-president Eta Yudin.
Jewish people are the single most targeted group for hate crimes and by a wide margin, especially after Oct. 7, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Ottawa’s decision was made jointly with counterparts in Washington, D.C., and announced Oct. 15 by Public Safety Canada and the U.S. Treasury Department.
Canada has officially added Samidoun to its list of recognized terrorist entities after facing calls from Jewish organizations and conservative politicians across Canada.
Samidoun is classified as a terrorist organization by Israel, and in November, it was banned from Germany for publishing words of praise for the October 7 Hamas massacre
