Protests will no longer be allowed on the Avenue Road overpass above Highway 401, Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw announced at a Police Services Board meeting on Jan. 11. The bridge is the main entrance to a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood and has been closed by police several times due to pro-Palestinian protests.

Six prominent Canadian universities are facing a series of proposed class-action lawsuits with claims that Jewish students are unsafe on campus. The list includes Queen's University, York University, Concordia University, Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of British Columbia. The prominent Toronto-based personal injury law firm, Diamond and Diamond, has also listed many of their student unions.

Concern about rising antisemitism has prompted a national Jewish organization to establish an office in Winnipeg. The goal of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs’ office, which is being created in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, is to address antisemitism in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
