In honour of the anniversary of Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass), join the White Rock–South Surrey Jewish community for a meaningful evening of remembrance and education, presented by the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC).
This presentation explores the pivotal year 1938, a turning point in the lives of European Jews. Drawing from a remarkable series of letters in VHEC’s collection—written by a local Vancouverite visiting Jewish friends in Vienna at the time—this program offers a firsthand account of the growing persecution of Jews following the Nazi Anschluss. Her letters provide a powerful, intimate glimpse into the realities faced by Austria’s Jewish community in the months leading up to Kristallnacht.
