The CBC – our national, publicly funded broadcaster with a mandate to reflect Canada’s diversity – has a long, documented, and disturbing record of anti-Israel bias. The situation has gone too far, which is why we’re asking for your help.

Since the October 7 massacre, we’ve seen:

  • CBC employees taking anti-Israel positions on their own social media accounts, while presenting themselves as neutral and “objective” journalists in reporting on the Middle East.
  • CBC repeatedly platforming a Gaza-based “journalist” who is notorious for his anti-Israel tirades and failing to disclose he’s openly linked to the Hamas-sponsoring, Iranian regime and its propaganda channel, Press TV.
  • CBC permitting journalists who have signed anti-Israel petitions to report on Israel and the Middle East.

These and many other examples violate the CBC’sown Journalistic Standards and Practicesby “corroding the trust of Canadians.”

That’s why CIJA recently joined HonestReporting Canada to intervene with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Together, we laid out how the CBC’s biased coverage of Israel and the Middle East is a betrayal of public trust and contributes to the rising level of hatred in Canada.

We need you to call on the CBC to take these two concrete actions:

1) Establish an independent commission of inquiry on its Israel-related reporting

2) Reassign all journalists who have demonstrated anti-Israel bias.

Join us in sending a strong message to the President of the CBC that Canadians won’t tolerate our public broadcaster’s extreme, anti-Israel bias.
