Zikka-Run 2024

Join the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA, the Adath Israel and Spanish & Portuguese Synagogues for Montreal's second annual Zikka-Run. The Zikka-Run is an international memorial for Yom Hazikaron, Israel's National Remembrance Day.

Guests are invited to run or walk at 2pm on May 12 in memory of Israeli fallen soldiers and victims of terror. This is a run with no fan fair, no tracking of running times, no music, no fee to participate. All participants will receive the name of an Israeli fallen solider or victim of terror to pin to their shirt. Everyone is invited to participate with one intention - to remember.

This year, we are adding an optional triathlon element in memory of fallen soldier Gal Aizenkot. Gal was the son of the former military chief and current minister in the government Gadi Aisenkot, and he was killed in the fight over the northern Gaza strip. He was leading his unit towards an open shaft when a bomb exploded, and he was mortally wounded.

Gal Aizenkot was the first captain of TRIMORE, a triathlon team based in Israel. Ronel Clain, one of Montreal's 2023-2024 Shinshinim, is a member of TRIMORE. Gal's leadership, his determination and his perseverance left a mark on the triathlon team. He also had a significant impact on Ronel's own values as an athlete and a human being. Gal Aizenkot was 25 years old when he was killed, may his memory be a blessing.

Register for the run and/or the triathlon with your friends, family and loved ones today.
