As Jewish students, faculty, and staff prepare to return to campus in the fall, CIJA shared a unified framework for Canadian campus administrators to consider as they plan for the upcoming academic year.
Inspired by the work of prominent North American organizations, the goal of the plan is to ensure that our universities are safe and welcoming for all students, faculty, and staff. You can view a copy of the letter here.
The primary elements of our guidance are to:
- Communicate clearly and enforce standards and rules governing the campus community, including policies on protests and demonstrations.
- Support Jewish students by preventing discrimination, rejecting BDS, and more.
- Ensure Jewish student safety and address incident reports effectively.
- Reaffirm faculty professional responsibilities and protect students from “abuse of podium.”
We reassert our dedication to working with Canadian postsecondary institutions to ensure the upcoming school year is safer and more inclusive for all, including Jewish students, faculty, and staff.
