This Sunday, Jewish communities across Canada and around the world will gather to mark Yom HaPlitim. Together, we will commemorate the nearly one million Jews forced from their ancestral homes in the Middle East and North Africa during the 20th century.

These stories matter now more than ever. Too often, this chapter of history is erased from public narratives. Just this week, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights announced a controversial exhibit that excludes the experiences of Jews displaced from this region.

Take Action

Museums should be anchored in history, not politics – especially as extremists exploit the conflict to attack our community and our Canadian way of life.

Thousands of Canadians have sent a message to the Museum CEO telling her not to erase our history. If you haven’t yet taken action, please take one minute to add your voice.

If you have, take one more step at ActionHub.ca to share it with your network.

To ensure these voices are heard, CIJA is launching a new initiative to gather and amplify testimonies from Jewish Canadians whose families were displaced from the Middle East and North Africa.

Their stories must be heard.
