Petition: It’s time to make terrorist symbols illegal!

The recent surge in home-grown radicalization and the resulting increase in hate crimes against Jews in Canada have reached a troubling tipping point.  

Last month, a Canadian citizen attempted a terrorist attack in Israel, and another was convicted in the United Kingdom for belonging to a proscribed terrorist organization. A father and son duo were arrested in Toronto over an imminent plot for a mass casualty event inspired by ISIS. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of radicalization occurring openly within our borders. 

The issue begins with the blatant celebration of terrorism, the public promotion and glorification of terror organizations, and proud display of their symbols. Despite its claims to be a 'human rights' organization, Vancouver-based Samidoun is linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist entity. They openly support and campaign for the release of imprisoned PFLP terrorists and brandish their symbols at rallies.  

In Montreal, Imam Adil Charkaoui's incitement to violence against Jews at an October protest was condemned, yet no prosecution followed. 

Flags and symbols of terrorist groups such as Hamas and the PFLP have been displayed at protests across Canada. Such actions are not only offensive but also dangerous.  

Call on the Canadian government to take immediate action: Public Safety must review Samidoun’s activities and consider adding them to Canada’s Listed Terrorist Entities. It should be illegal to glorify terrorism and use symbols of terrorist organizations. These steps are crucial for safeguarding not only the Jewish community, but Canadian society as a whole.
