Neuberger HEW 2024 | Professional Lunch and Learn (Toronto)

Join us to learn from clinical psychologist Dr. Irit Felsen in a focused session for people working with Holocaust survivors and their descendants. Gain insight into how this community experiences and responds to trauma and loss differently, including the events of October 7 and their aftermath. Irit’s extensive research will inform this workshop, offering insight and practical suggestions in working with this population. Research on Holocaust families paved the way for examining multigenerational transmission of trauma in other trauma-exposed populations, and studies have revealed that there are some very fundamental shared mechanisms as well as unique characteristics for specific traumatic experiences in each particular group. Program participants will better understand the impact of intergenerational trauma on families of Holocaust survivors and leave with strategies that support coping mechanisms in multigenerational client systems.

This 90-minute webinar is designed for clinicians, caregivers, social workers, medical professionals, and anyone working with the ageing survivor generation and their descendants.

This program is presented in partnership with Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence and UJA’s Human Services One Community Cares: Knowledge Exchange Series. An initiative to strengthen the diverse network of agencies serving the Jewish community.
