We are the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, a charity based in Vancouver that partners with other Jewish agencies to provide support for our local community, a vibrant and enduring Jewish community, as well as in Israel and around the world. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a hands-on, service-oriented approach, strong communication skills and a team player to join our finance team as a Junior Accountant who will be responsible for our Accounts Payable.

The Employee will be measured against the effective execution of the following tasks and responsibilities and the following skills and traits required to be successful in the Position.
Tasks and Responsibilities
General Duties for this role include the following:
- Review invoices and cheque requests for appropriate coding and approvals.
- Flag and resolve any invoice or expense report discrepancies.
- Enter invoices and expense reports into the accounting system for payment.
- Prepare and process check runs and electronic transfers and payments.
- Review and enter business credit card expense reports into the accounting system.
- Reconcile/Maintain vendor accounts and manage vendor inquiries.
- Complete A/P and A/R month-end journal entries, including GL reconciliations.
- Produce monthly AP reports and review for any unusual items.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Complete the monthly investment income allocation file for upload into the accounting software.
- Complete the monthly revenue file and upload it into the accounting software.
- Support the controller's office in the payroll cycle using ADP.
- Support the preparation and coordination of annual audits.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed annual budgets and forecasts for assigned departments and programs.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports regarding AP and AR transactions and complete other Finance duties as assigned.
Key attributes of a successful candidate include:
- A College Diploma or Degree in Finance/Accounting or related discipline or equitable work experience in Finance/Accounting Department
- Advanced skills in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office products
- Work experience in the not-for-profit and enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
- Knowledge of general accounting and accounts payable, and accounts receivable practices.
- Proficient in data entry, well organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong work ethic and an ability to meet deadlines.
- Able to contribute and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Driven to achieving results and continuously striving to deliver high performance.
- Able to manage shifting priorities and function calmly under pressure.

Salary range: $43,000 - $48,000 based on experience
Schedule: 35 hours per week
