Organization: The Jewish Archives and Historical Society of Edmonton and Northern Alberta, (JAHSENA) is the archives of the Edmonton Jewish community. Our mission is to preserve the Jewish heritage of the communities of Edmonton and Northern Alberta, through the acquisition, housing, arrangement, description, cataloguing, preservation, conservation and access of collected materials, and to promote interest in the history of these communities and their archives through educational and publication projects.

The Position: The Administrator is responsible for overseeing the business aspect of JAHSENA, including accounting, bill paying, issuing tax receipts, processing donations and memberships, filing casino papers and reports, making sure we are in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

Overall Responsibilities: The Administrator is responsible for direction of the business of the organization. Be required to work closely with the Archivist/Librarian and the board, especially the president and treasurer to keep the business aspects of the organization in order.

Specific Responsibilities: Must conduct the everyday business of the archives, work with the board and external accountants to maintain books, accounts and pay bills, engage in grant preparation, fundraising, and casino administration.

Candidate Qualifications: Candidates must have at least an undergraduate degree, preferably with some emphasis in administration, bookkeeping and accounting. Familiarity with archival and library principles. Excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills, technological literacy and ability to work with volunteers, boards and older people is an asset.

Experience and Technical Competencies: Familiarity with working in a non-profit setting, with fundraising, accounting and computer skills, grant writing and reporting, filing of essential corporate documents.

Compensation: This is a part-time, contract position, approximately five hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience. Position commences January 3, 2025.
