Liberal MP Anthony Housefather is facing both strong support and opposition to his appointment as special adviser on Jewish community relations and antisemitism.

Former Bloc Québécois MP Richard Marceau, a lawyer who serves as vice-president of external affairs and general counsel for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), said the new advisory position “comes at a time where the prime minister said, rightly, that the levels of antisemitism are at a terrifying level, and that hatred towards Jews is rampant.”
