Halifax: Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day

Please join us for this year’s Yom HaShoah program honouring the life and legacy of Holocaust survivor Helena Jockel, author of We Sang in Hush Voices. Her story of courage and resilience continues to inspire us and reminds us of the importance of bearing witness. The evening will begin with a commemorative candle-lighting ceremony, followed by a special conversation featuring her granddaughter, Yolana Wassersug, in conversation with retired CBC radio broadcaster Olga Milosevich. Together, they will reflect on Helena’s enduring legacy and the responsibility of carrying memory forward to future generations. A reception will follow the program.

The event is free & open to the public. This program will be livestreamed in Atlantic Canada: Click Here

This program is presented with the support of the Halifax Central Library and the Azrieli Foundation.
