We know all too well that gunfire at three Toronto-area synagogues last week did not occur in a vacuum. Iranian and Jewish-owned businesses have been attacked. And just today, the U.S. Consulate in Toronto was also struck by gunfire.
These attacks are the predictable result of more than two years in which extremists have targeted and harassed our communities across the GTA, while openly calling for violence.
This Saturday, in the heart of Toronto, those same extremists will again gather for Al Quds Day—an event founded by the Islamic Regime in Iran to spread the Islamic Revolution’s violent ideology and call for Israel’s destruction and genocide against the Jewish people.
In today’s climate, we cannot tolerate any further escalation of radicalization or threats to public safety.
This has to end now.
Take two minutes to send a message directly to Toronto’s municipal leaders:
- Toronto’s Mayor and City Councillors must clearly denounce Al Quds Day as a disgusting display of hate and a security threat.
- Police and city officials must act decisively to protect the public: enforce the law - arrest and prosecute those who break it.
No community – not ours, not Iranian Canadians, or any other – should live in fear of the brutal Islamic Regime.
