Communications and social media officer – Full-time position
Reporting to the VP of Communications, this position will support the Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s Communications Department and includes writing and developing stories for a bi-weekly newsletter, and creating social media posts, stories and reels. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent writing skills and understanding of social media and the latest online communication with the ability to celebrate Jewish Ottawa, tell our story, and share the impact of Federation’s work.
Salaried full-time position with benefits, starting at $45,000
Specific responsibilities will include:
Ottawa Jewish E-Bulletin
Write and develop stories for this bi-weekly digital newsletter; layout articles on digital platform; share on social media.
Social Media
Create and post social media content to accounts on various platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; and use analytics to measure success.
Writing / researching
Various in-house writing to support the department’s work as needed.
Desired Skills
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Good understanding of technology and ability to learn new programs, such as web site platforms, email systems such Constant Contacts
- Energized by a fast-paced schedule that includes various projects at once
- Knowledge of Israel, Jewish values and traditions
- Knowledge of Ottawa’s Jewish community is an asset
- Well-organized with diligent follow-up
- Self-starter and energetic
Education
A post-secondary degree in related fields of Communications would be considered an added asset.
Experience
This can be considered an entry position. We are excited and willing to train and work with new graduates who may not yet have work experience but who can demonstrate the necessary skill set and show enthusiasm and passion to learn and be part of our team.
