UN Rapporteur Albanese must be condemned
Francesca Albanese, the UN’s so-called Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, is soon coming to Canada.
Her troubling history of statements and actions that reflect blatant antisemitism and a dangerous bias against Israel are as obvious as they are problematic.
She has:
- Blamed the aftermath of Hamas’ horrific attacks on October 7, 2023 on what she calls "Israel’s oppression"
- Appeared on a Hezbollah-affiliated media channel
- Refused to condemn Hezbollah
- Equated Israel’s effort to combat the genocidal ambitions of Hamas with Nazi Germany
And the list continues.
Her excusing of terrorism and minimizing the suffering of innocent Israeli civilians only serve to embolden those who seek to justify violence against Jews and delegitimize Israel’s right to defend itself against terror.
Help us call on Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly and on the Government of Canada to condemn Ms. Albanese’s behaviour in no uncertain terms by sending the email to her found on the right side of this page.
At this time of historically high levels of antisemitism, Ms. Albanese’s peddling of Jew-hatred, toxicity, and division has no place in Canada.
Help us ensure Minister Joly understands that the Jewish community and our allies expect her to clearly let Ms. Albanese know exactly that.
