It's Time to Fire Fred Hahn
Since Hamas’ barbaric October 7 terror attacks against Israel, which claimed more than 1,200 lives – eight of them Canadian – the situation within CUPE has deteriorated rapidly – largely due to the so-called leadership of Fred Hahn.
What began as a troubling trend in 2010 when Hahn was first elected President, has now escalated into a full-blown crisis that must be dealt with – immediately.
Under his watch, the union has become a breeding ground for radicalization and extremism, affecting both workplaces and campuses.
Jewish union members report unprecedented levels of racism, hostility, and discrimination within their own union. Many no longer feel safe participating in union activities – a stark betrayal of the principles unions are supposed to uphold.
The recent incident on August 11, when he shared a viral foreign-made antisemitic propaganda video, marked a particularly egregious moment in Hahn’s leadership. His promotion of radical ideologies is causing irreparable harm to CUPE's integrity, unity, and effectiveness. His actions and statements, both online and offline, have repeatedly crossed the line from legitimate political discourse into hate speech, discrimination, and antisemitism.
It's why we’re collectively saying enough is enough; Hahn does not deserve any more chances.
Hahn’s leadership poses an immediate threat to Jewish members, CUPE 's integrity, and the Canadian labour movement's future.
If he won’t resign, then Fred Hahn must be fired. Remove him from his position of influence.
