Israeli Ambassador attends six month commemoration of Oct.7 (The Suburban)

The Montreal community turned out in droves to attend a standing room-only event Sunday organized by Bring Them Home Montreal and Federation CJA to mark the six-month anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, in which 1,200 people were brutally murdered, some 250 kidnapped and thousands wounded.

Housefather to remain with Liberals (The Suburban)

The Liberals and NDP co sponsored a motion in the house of commons calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and a halt in arms exports to Israel. The government has in fact halted arms sales to Israel for its defence. Liberal MPs Anthony Housefather, Ben Carr and Marco Mendicino were the only Liberals to vote against. The Conservatives unanimously opposed the motion. Housefather said he felt isolated and that the revised motion was too hurriedly passed. After this event Housefather began a period of self-reflection.

Judge expands injunction against anti-Israel protests protecting 27 institutions (The Suburban)

Superior Court Justice Louis Charette has broadly expanded a provisional interlocutory injunction against pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protests so that demonstrators cannot protest within 50 metres of numerous Jewish community institutions throughout Montreal.The defendants are Independent Jewish Voices, Montreal4Palestine, the Palestinian Youth Movement Montreal (PYMMontreal), Alliance4Palestine.QC and Bara Iyad Abuhamed, the latter of whom faces charges of assaulting a police officer during a trespassing protest by an anti-Israel mob inside Carrefour Laval.

April 7th marked six months since Hamas launched a medieval onslaught of murder, rape and kidnapping in southern Israel, leaving 1,139 civilians dead, at least eight of whom were Canadians, and taking some 250 more hostage over what would end up being the darkest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

In an address at the Hamilton Police Services meeting on Jan. 25 at City Hall, Jason Waxman, president of the Hamilton Jewish Federation, advocated for enhanced security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the Jewish community in Hamilton. Addressing the officials, Waxman underscored the imperative of collective responsibility in safeguarding citizens, regardless of their religious or ethnic background.
