Justin Tobin is completing an undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts (Folklore). Originally from Bishop’s Falls (NL; also known as Kjipa’Tila’Sewey), he grew up largely assimilated from both the Jewish and Mi’kmaq worlds. Justin has served the Jewish Community Havura of NL as an ongoing board member since 2017, was a Madrich for Birthright-Taglit, founder and former student president of Hillel – Jewish Student Life at Memorial University. Other accolades include: being a former Emerson fellow (Stand With Us), Ambassador of Hope (We Matter), and first ever Non-Status Youth Representative to Qalipu First Nation in 2020-2021. Identifying as a 2-spirit & Jewish man, Justin’s activism largely focuses on empowering his local Jewish & Mi’kmaq community, bridging the gap between cultural assimilation and restoration.
