It’s time to condemn Hezbollah!
It’s time to condemn Hezbollah!
While Israel has been at war with Hamas in the south, Hezbollah has been launching unprovoked attacks from the north – and has done so for months with hardly a rebuke from the Canadian government.
Now, with the threat of war with Hezbollah looming, Mélanie Joly needs to leverage Canada’s global voice and state clearly that Canada will not stand for Hezbollah’s relentless aggression.
With the will to show that leadership, Canada can play a role in averting a potential war that would be bad for both Israelis and Lebanese. The ties between Canada and both countries are deep and historic.
Now nine months since Hezbollah started its deadly game of provocation against Israel, it’s time to recognize the dangerous influence and destructive role the terror group has been playing in the region. A failure to condemn Hezbollah’s terror attacks is only giving them license to continue pushing Israel toward yet another war.
Hezbollah has released footage of their operatives firing on innocent Israeli civilians. There have been many reports of injuries and damage, and more than 60,000 Israelis living within 5 km of the border have been forced to evacuate their homes in the north – displacing them across the rest of Israel where they have been living as refugees within their own country for months.
This cannot continue. Tell Mélanie Joly and the Canadian government to call out Hezbollah, insist on compliance with UN Resolution 1701, which calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah and a ban on all paramilitary forces south of the Litani River, and make clear that Canadian aid is conditional on concrete action by the Lebanese government against Hezbollah.
