Express Disappointment in Selina Robinson’s Dismissal from Cabinet
Apologies matter.
There are several cases where BC NDP members and staff have made profoundly hurtful comments, including on International Holocaust Remembrance Day – when we honour the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust– and a staff member on Premier Eby’s team tweeted “we stand with the Muslim community.”
In every case, we have accepted their apologies and their promises to do better.
However, while Premier Eby’s ministers and others are held to one standard, a different, unfair standard is applied to the Jewish community.
We understand that Selina Robinson has work to do to restore trust with many of B.C.’s diverse communities, but she has also been a strong advocate for the Jewish community in cabinet.
In 2023, the Vancouver Jewish community experienced a 62 percent increase in antisemitic hate crimes compared to the previous year. Our community relies on strong voices like Selina’s at the cabinet table.
We’re asking you to write to Premier David Eby to express your disappointment and request he take meaningful steps to rebuild trust with our community.
