2024 Yom HaShoah Program (Charlottetown, PEI)

On behalf of the Prince Edward Island Jewish Community (PEIJC), you are cordially invited to the PEIJC’s Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) commemoration ceremony on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Rotary Hall, Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen Street, Charlottetown.

The six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust will be remembered with the lighting of six memorial candles, reading aloud the names of victims, reciting the Mourners’ Prayer, and the chanting of the Prayer for the Souls of the Departed.

The keynote address is ““Whoever listens to a witness, becomes a witness” (Elie Wiesel): Roza Veerman-Schneider’s Story witnessed by Ilana Sofron-Clyde.” 

This year marks twenty-five years since the passing of Prince Edward Island’s Holocaust Memorial Day Act, 1999.
