Today the world has lost Shimon Peres, a man whose commitment to a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians earned him a Nobel peace prize.
I had a chance to meet with President Peres in Israel, and when he visited Ottawa. We talked about how peace was possible and why it was necessary. I remember the clarity of his vision and the depth of his commitment to a future where young Israelis and Palestinians could cooperate to build a better world.
This is the legacy I will remember him for, and the work we must all carry on.
May his memory be for a blessing.
