The Centre extends a big “mazel tov” to Beca Bookman on receiving the “Hasbara in Action” award from the Menachem Begin Heritage Foundation. At the University of Toronto, Beca spearheaded various innovative campaigns designed to connect students with Israel – and build an understanding of the challenges facing the Jewish state. These include the successful “Hot Chocolate Hot Topic” event, as well as the impactful “How do you Measure 4 Years” marketing campaign to raise awareness of the imprisonment of Gilad Shalit. For her outstanding contribution to Israel advocacy, Beca will receive from the Foundation $3,000 towards tuition and $2,000 toward an Israel initiative on campus.
