Starting salary range: $85,280 to $91,000 based on experience.

About the Opportunity
This new position will be a key member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver security team with specific responsibility for ensuring the physical safety and security of community agencies located outside of the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Kelowna, and Kamloops. Reporting to the Director of Community Security, your role will be focused on day-to-day operations in the designated communities, including liaison with local law enforcement, designing and delivering training, conducting vulnerability audits, assisting organizations apply for funding, and developing security plans for high profile events. You will also have responsibility for coordinating the recruitment, screening, training, and overall management of a trained cadre of community volunteers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and ensuring Jewish community organizations in the emerging communities and provincial portfolio have access to appropriate information regarding safety and security procedures.
- Liaising and/or partnering with local law enforcement and other relevant agencies.
- Responding to (if necessary) and mitigate critical incidents.
- Establishing and maintaining a reporting and tracking process to ensure that relevant ensuring that data is captured, reported, and analyzed.
- Providing and facilitating training for community partners and volunteers on relevant security protocols including emergency management and response, and crisis management.
- Working with partner agencies in the designated communities to undertake lockdown and evacuation drills on a regular basis.
- Conducting threat vulnerability risk assessments, preparing recommendations based on these assessments and assisting community partners in applying for funding.
- Recruiting, training, and managing the volunteer cadre program in the Lower Mainland
- Maintaining up-to-date best practices related to security and safety.
- Developing security plans for high profile or high-volume events
- Providing additional support to the Director of Community Security during high volume periods.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Background in local law enforcement or military experience
- Post secondary education in security management or a related field, or hold professional security industry designation.
- Must have a valid BC security worker’s licence to include security consultant designation.
- Extensive experience in preventing illegal activity and performing access control.
- In-depth knowledge of best practice security procedures, access control, and CCTV surveillance equipment.
- Knowledge of security industry regulations.
- Must be available to work outside the normal shift schedule on an as-needed basis and must be accessible by phone 24/7 for emergency incident response.
- Advanced ability to coordinate responses to security breaches and threats.
- Proven problem-solving skills and encourage new innovative solutions when appropriate.
- People-focused with ability to quickly build rapport with employees and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills including active listening, de-escalation & diplomacy.
- Proactive approach with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in training/instructing on security related topics.
- Experience conducting TVRAs.
- Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of the Lower Mainland Jewish community is an asset.
