Mike Savage

Mike Savage is a community leader with a strong record in both business and public life. He has an expertise in energy having spent 15 years working at senior positions in Irving Oil and Nova Scotia Power. He was a Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour from 2004-2011, was a senior member of the shadow cabinet and was the Liberal Caucus chair for Post-Secondary Education and Research and was one of Parliament’s most active MPs.

Mike has been involved in a number of not-for-profit organizations such as The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Arthritis Society, CNIB, United Way, The Greater Halifax Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement. He is also a former Board Member of Neptune Theatre and the IWK Hospital, former President of The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and served on the Board of The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

In September 2011 Mike accepted an appointment as Senior Public Policy Fellow, Cape Breton University’s Centre for Sustainability in Energy and the Environment. Currently Mike is the Vice-President of Corporate Affairs for Atlantic Canada’s largest marketing and communications company, M5 Marketing Communications.
