Yesterday, we blogged that Israeli Press Reports Terror Cell in Toronto Stalking El Al Staff, noting the story was getting little play in the Canadian mainstream media.
Since then, the Toronto Star‘s Oakland Ross filed Israelis targeted in Toronto, which basically reiterates the Ha’aretz coverage and includes some background on Hezbollah, the suspected “terror cell.”
The Toronto Sun meanwhile went all-out tabloid with this scary headline. The subhead, which isn’t visible here, reads: “Hezbollah stalking El Al Airline staff shows we’re vulnerable to attack, experts say.” (And yes that’s Mats Sundin on the cover, not a terrorist!)
The Sun story, “T.O. open to attack: Report” by Ben Spencer, interviews David Harris, former chief of strategic planning at CSIS, who “said an influx of Hezbollah and its supporters into Toronto has left the city wide open to a terrorist attack.”
Harris also “said Toronto is effectively a second home to Hezbollah and its supporters.”
