‘The Agenda’ Debate: The Meaning of Jihad
On Jan. 23, TVO’s “The Agenda with Steve Paiken” featured a debate on the Meaning of Jihad. Participants were:
- Shabir Ally, president of the Islamic Information and Dawah Centre.
- Mohammad Fadel, a professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. He has also published numerous articles on Islamic legal history.Â
- Tarek Fatah, host of The Muslim Chronicle. Tarek has written for Time, Toronto Star and Globe and Mail. He is founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress and author of Chasing a Mirage: The Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State.
- Aly Hindy, Imam of the Salaheddin Islamic Centre in Toronto.
-  Muqtedar Khan, associate professor and director of Islamic Studies at the University of Delaware. He is the author of Jihad for Jerusalem and Islamic Democratic Discourse. Visit his web site – ijtihad.org which means reinterpretaton of Islam.
