CBC Report: Hamas Losing Popularity in Gaza
At CBC.ca, Terry Milewski reports on growing tension between Hamas and ordinary Palestinians in Gaza.
Milewski claims that “after more than a year of isolation under Hamas rule, popular support seems thin.”
Milewski decribes “the scene of the worst violence in Gaza since the Hamas takeover” in which members of the Hilles clan were more-or-less massacred. But even this slaughter has not frightened people from speaking out against Hamas.
And an even more encouraging sign “is that people dare to speak openly of something that is heresy to Hamas – peace with Israel. Most adult Gazans can remember when it was possible to make a living by working in construction or agricultural jobs in Israel.”
