According to Reports: Prisoner Exchange Exposes Media Blindspot
In his weekly Canadian Jewish News media analysis column “According to Reports,†Paul Michaels, CIC Director of Communications, notes that, in the “extensive and intense” coverage of the recent prisoner exchange between Israel and Hezbollah, the media seemed to be puzzled over why Israel was going ahead with it: “Journalists in Israel, along with their editors back in Canada, kept asking: Why would Israel trade five Lebanese prisoners, including the notorious Samir Kuntar, along with 199 bodies of Lebanese and Palestinians, for the remains of two of its soldiers? ”
