Palestinian Prisoner Release: CBC Coverage and JCPA Article Says Release May Result in More Crime

Today, Israel released close to 200 Palestinian prisoners, in a goodwill gesture ahead of a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice.  Click here to see the CBC coverage of the event.

“Releasing Terrorists: New Victims Pay the Price,” an article by Nadav Shragai for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, warns that many of those prisoners  are  likely to reoffend: “According to an informal estimate by Israeli security bodies, about 50 percent of the terrorists freed for any reason whatsoever returned to the path of terror, either as a perpetrator, a planner, or as an accomplice. In the terror acts committed by these freed terrorists, hundreds of Israelis were murdered, and thousands were wounded.”
