At a press conference yesterday, representatives from the CIC and the Canadian Jewish Congress (CJC) showed video footage and photos  compiled from several pro-Palestinians rallies in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.  The aim was to provide evidence of incitement to hatred and violence by demonstrators. The video is posted below, and there are more videos in ‘The Jews Are Our Dogs’ Chant ‘Peace’ Protesters.
The rallies were co-sponsored by organizations including the Toronto Area Council of the United Steel Workers, the Conseil National des Syndicats, Palestine House, CUPE-Ontario, the Canadian Arab Federation, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal’s Office de la pastorale sociale.
Â
“Canadians cherish the right to peacefully demonstrate about issues that concern them,” said CJC CEO Bernie M. Farber. “But organizations that sponsor such demonstrations have an active responsibility to ensure Canadian values are respected and Canadian laws are upheld. Today, we call upon all organizations that sponsored these demonstrations to denounce the horrendous expressions of anti-Semitism and calls to genocide that occurred”.
Â
Canadian Jewish Congress will also be asking law enforcement, including the RCMP, in the cities where these rallies took place to investigate the possibility of violations of Canadian law.Â
Â
“All Canadians should be deeply concerned by attempts to import the conflict in the Middle East to our communities,” said Sara Saber-Freedman, Executive Vice President of the Canada-Israel Committee. “These public verbal threats enable and encourage acts of physical violence, which have dramatically increased in Europe and the United States over the last several weeks,” she noted.
