The Canada-Israel Committee will host two National Hockey League superstars, Daryl Sittler and Paul Henderson, for a tour of Israel next week. On their first trip to Israel, the two Canadian sports heroes will visit holy and historical sites, meet Israeli political leaders, and be the special guests at the fourth annual Israel Recreational Hockey Association tournament, January 26-28, at “Canada Center” in Metula.

Henderson is known across Canada as the legendary player who scored the winning goals – the “Goals of the Century” – in the final three games of the epic 1972 Canada-USSR hockey series.

Former Toronto Maple Leaf captain and Hall of Fame member Darryl Sittler was one of the most popular players in Leafs history and holds the NHL record for most points in a single game.

Neither of the old-timers will play in the hockey tournament, but their presence in the stands will give an extra boost to the more than 90 players. Four teams from Canada, Israel and the US will battle for the trophy.
