Here is an urgent message from David Koschitzky,
Chair, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto:
Remember our incredible Passover Wine Buy in April — our community’s response to an attempt by anti-Israel activists to boycott Israeli wines? We came out in the hundreds and sold out the Summerhill LCBO of wine from Israel in less than 20 minutes!
We are asking you once again to show our community’s solidarity! Anti-Israel activists have called for a protest against the ROM’s exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls for today Friday, July 10th at 6 pm.
I urge you to respond to this protest by booking your tickets TODAY to see the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibition during its run until January, 2010. Pass this call to action to all of your friends Jewish and non-Jewish to generate unprecedented tickets sales to the Dead Sea Scrolls. We want to create a sell-out situation at the ROM in the same way we did last Spring at the LCBO! If they experience a surge in ticket sales today we will have made a strong public statement.
We want to send an unequivocal message that our community celebrates the Dead Sea Scrolls as part of our cultural and spiritual heritage and that any attempt to deny Israel’s historic presence in Israel from at least the time of the Dead Sea Scrolls – 2000 years ago – will not be successful! The Dead Sea Scrolls, including the earliest known copies of the Hebrew bible, provide proof of the historical facts that underpin the legitimacy of Israel as a Jewish state.
We are very pleased to forward you a special ticket discount of up to 30% from The Israel Antiquities Authority Friends in Canada and The Royal Ontario Museum. When purchasing tickets to the exhibit, please include the discount corporate code IAA. To order your tickets, visit the ROM online at http://www.rom.on.ca/scrolls. While we urge you to purchase tickets online TODAY, you can also purchase tickets at the admission desk in person at the same discount from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12 using the code UJA. The online discount does not have an expiry date.
