Allan Rock on OPIRG and Hillel

In his blog Tête-à-tête/RockTalk, Allan Rock, president of the University of Ottawa, weighs in on a campus controversy involving a refusal to fund a Hillel speaker.  (For background, see the Ottawa Citizen editorial “Second-class Students.” )

Writes Rock: ” I was deeply troubled to read in the local media last week that a student group on campus had been denied the assistance of OPIRG on the basis that OPIRG associated the student group with Israel, and what it called Israel’s ‘apartheid policy.’”

Rock goes on to outline steps he intends to take to ensure this does not happen again.
